July 21: Games have always been a source of entertainment for every generation whether it is a child or an adult. In the era of smartphones and the internet, the online gaming world is developing faster than expected. There are many forms evolved in this world like Online Fantasy Sports (OFS), e-Sports, Online Skill-based Casual Games. Some games have multiple types of the quiz, puzzles like Chess, Billiards, Ludo, Scrabble, Sudoku, etc. there are also various online versions of card-based games for card lovers.

Fantasy sports are played online. Participants make their virtual team with the real players of a professional sport. The acts of the players are based on their statistical performances in the real sport or game they played. Online Indian casino games allow the participants to show their talent and knowledge in the game and have fun equally. Not only that, most of the games allow you to earn a certain amount of money based on the game pattern and playing skills.

Difference between Online Fantasy sports and other online games

Fantasy sports are completely different from other forms of online games because they do not need a real-life player to be playing a real sports match to decide the outcome for the participant. Fantasy sports depend on the facts of the game being played. Players chosen by participants exist in real sports also and their performance level is reflected in the game.

Fantasy games are real-time games, for example, any season of a cricket match is going on in the field the same will be reflected in the game, and participants can manage and play these games by choosing their set of players. Not only this, participants can earn money but not like other online games which are alleged to be like gambling or betting.

Online Fantasy Sports in India

Fantasy sports platforms/games are in existence for the last two decades but they have grown in the last two years phenomenally in India. As we all are aware due to this pandemic and lockdown, people were at home and then these games took a boom. Fantasy sports platforms have resulted in growth in digital transactions, which has been a long-standing objective driven by the Government of India in the form of the “Digital India” campaign. One can imagine the number of transactions done by the fact that the fantasy sports platforms and operators in combination paid INR 166 crore in goods and services tax (GST) in Financial Year 2019 and INR 445 crore in Financial Year 2020. Not only this, fantasy sports popularity in India can be assumed by the report given by the NITI Ayog which claims that the Indian online fantasy sports market has recently gone beyond the US online fantasy sports market in terms of the user base.

No doubt, online fantasy sports have got a great deal of attention both from sports fans and investors which resulted in its strong and tremendous growth in the global market as well.
