On this World Environment Day, Viral Desai plants 4,000 trees under ‘Satyagraha against Pollution’

Surat (Gujarat) [India], June 8: Known as the Greenman Viral Desai, an environmentalist and businessman spearheaded his ‘Satyagraha against Pollution’ campaign on World Environment Day by planting and distributing about 4,000 trees in various places. As a part of this campaign, he planted trees in Vaktana, Vaanz, and Bhimrad villages, both of which have been associated with Gandhiji’s Dandi Yatra.

In this regard, Viral Desai said, “Just as Gandhiji and Sardar Patel got freedom from British slavery through Satyagraha, now is the time for us to get freedom from the slavery of pollution through Satyagraha.” That is why our foundation has decided to do ‘Satyagraha Against Pollution’, under which we will plant more than two and a half lakh trees in the coming days, create an urban forest, and have an environmental dialogue with the students. As part of our mission, we have selected Vaanz, Vaktana, and Bhimrad, two villages that witnessed the historic Dandi Yatra. Earlier also we had planted trees in the Vaanz village where Gandhiji stayed. ‘

It may be mentioned that in honor of the Government of India’s program ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’, Viral Desai is holding ‘Satyagraha Against Pollution’, in which he will observe this Satyagraha till August next year. He started this satyagraha from Vanz village last April. He also planted and distributed 4,000 trees in areas like Vapi, Vaanz, Bhimrad, Vaktana, Surat, and Maroli on World Environment Day.
