January 18: Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of a legendary Padma Vibhushan Kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj. We have had a great bond with legendary Padma Vibhushan Kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj. He has cherished that special connection with Chitrakoot Dham. Whenever we requested the honour of his presence on Hanuman Jayanti or any other event, he wholeheartedly accepted our invitation and used to visit Talgajarda. Such a renowned Kathak par excellence, he also excelled in singing as well as playing a variety of instruments.

I pray to God that his soul may find peace in heaven. My condolences to his family and students.
