Earlier this year the West Indies emptied Sri Lanka in the T20I 2-0 series. This victory brought back memories of the 2012 Caribbean team that won the world T20 in the same country. The star with the bat in both matches was Andre Russell. A solid striker scored 35 of the 14 goals in the first edition of the T20I. As if that wasn’t enough, he scored 14 goals on 40 points in the second T20I.
Seeing his bat like that may have revived the hopes of Caribbean fans for another title. Dwayne Bravo, the longest-serving player in the Caribbean, expressed his joy at the great all-round game in a recent interview. He compared him to Chris Gale, who for years was one of the most destructive strikers in T20 cricket. Bravo, also known as the Jamaican Brain Lara T20 format.
Andre Russell is the best in the world Duane Bravo
In a conversation with the Trinidadian radio station I955 FM Bravo heard praise for André Russell. It’s the best in the world. That’s what I said about Chris Gayle when he was in his best years – we’re glad he’s representing us, we didn’t have to come play with him at an international game. It’s the same with Andre Russell. Andre Russell is now our Chris Gale, our Brian Lara, in T20 format. She’s a superstar.
Dwayne Bravo recently returned to the T20I. The omniscient and former captain announced his withdrawal from international cricket a few years ago. He has maintained close ties with the West India Cricket Board.
But after the change of scenery and the integration of Kieron Pollard as captain of the Bal Blanc, DJ Bravo announced his return. There is no doubt that the goal of all participants is to represent the Caribbean at the ICC World Championships for men in Australia at the end of the year.
Bravo and Russell were both part of the team that won the T20 World Champion title in India in 2016. The star cars will again be the key to the Caribbean selection when they receive the trophy for the third time. Already in 2012, when the team won its first title, Russell and Bravo were both on the team.
Russell will see the Knights of Calcutta in action again on IPL 2020 when the tournament takes place. He scored 510 strike points out of 200. He also accepted 11 wickets during the season and was named MVP of the season.
