Detective Agency Helping Tackle Rising Scams on Matrimonial Websites

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] September 11: Swati (name changed), a 29-year-old IT engineer residing in Mumbai, began searching for a life partner on matrimonial sites a year ago after settling in her career. She connected with a 32-year-old man from her own community who claimed to run a boutique business online and own a house in Kurla. After meeting several times, they decided to get married, and the families began discussions leading to their wedding. Swati was excited that everything seemed perfect, but her happiness was short-lived. On their wedding night, her new husband revealed he was in severe financial trouble and demanded ₹500,000 to even touch her. He also forced Swati to take loans under various pretences and, within a few months, swindled her out of ₹16 to ₹17 lakhs before disappearing.

Swati tried to seek help from the police, but they dismissed her case, labelling it as a family matter. To track down her husband, Swati enlisted the help of Swift Detective Agency. The agency has uncovered multiple fraudulent activities by her husband, who is a professional scammer targeting victims through matrimonial sites. Reports indicate he has been involved in at least three similar scams before, with his mother also being part of the scheme. Swati is now being helped by Swift Detective Agency for justice. While Swati’s case is a significant example, such matrimonial frauds are affecting many young women in Mumbai, who come to the city with hopes of a promising future. It is crucial for these women to verify the details of their prospective partners and not rely solely on matrimonial sites before deciding to marry, as identifying fraudsters has become increasingly challenging. In many cases, women don’t inform their families about the marriage and end up getting deceived. However, in this case, both families were involved.

The scammer presented a flat belonging to his friend as his own. After the first night, Swati didn’t inform her family, thinking he might have genuine financial issues and chose to overlook it. Later, he asked for money, claiming it was needed for their honeymoon. He rented a house and furnished it, and Swati even sold her jewelry to cover expenses. Over time, he swindled her out of ₹15 to ₹16 lakh, and within just four months, he fled with his mother. They took not only household items like detergent and groceries but also furniture and a TV. When Swati returned home, she discovered the truth, and her husband’s phone was turned off. Unable to contact him, Swati has sought the help of Swift Detective Agency to gather information and evidence.

Providing more details, Priya Kakade, Director of Swift Detective Agency, stated that her team has started working to gather information and collect evidence regarding the case. The suspect owns a small 10×10 house in Kurla where his father lives alone and has no involvement in the scam. However, the suspect and his wife are on the run, and it is reported that he may have started an affair with another woman. He continues to create online content, potentially targeting more women. Our next objective is to compile all the necessary information, ensure a legal separation, secure alimony, and recover the full amount of the stolen money.

“When meeting someone through a matrimonial site, ensure you gather complete information about them. Approximately 90% of profiles on such sites are fake, and there have even been cases involving the sale of women. Therefore, social media is not the ideal platform for arranging marriages. Use Swift Detective Agency’s services to verify the prospective groom’s pre-marital profile. Visit the address or property mentioned by them and verify its authenticity. Check for any criminal record, and inquire with neighbors. If fraud is involved, the police often dismiss it as a family matter. Therefore, obtaining complete information and evidence with the help of Swift Detective Agency is crucial, authentic, top agency awarded as excellent detective agency in India and it will significantly support all your cases in court. They have resolved many such cases.” explains Priya Kakade, Director, Swift Detective Agency
