The NBA is all about reputation. If players feel you can be pushed, no one will want to play with you, no matter how good you are. That’s why all coaches want difficult players and opponents in their teams.
Rigidity is a two-way street, although sometimes hard, tough players tend to push teammates and coaches away because they have a relentless desire to win at all costs. We’ve seen it over and over and it will never change.
But who are the strongest players in the league now? And by that we mean that they are not only physically strong, but also mentally difficult to beat or put into their heads. Not many players can brag about it, and today we’ll let you know:
10. Rajon Rondo
Rajon Rondo is known as one of the strongest players in the league in recent decades. In his prime he was one of the most boring and physically demanding defenders in the league. He is known for his gossip and his desire to face his opponent.
However, Rondo’s toughness throughout his NBA career has made him a major critic, including some of his former coaches. But the same mental stability has always helped him to flourish in qualifying and game situations.
9. Serge Ibaka
Serge Ibaka is a featherweight, but he wouldn’t hesitate to submit to a physical examination and drop a pair of hands if you rub him badly. He’s one of the strongest men in the league, and not exactly the fun kind, believe me.
In recent years, Ibaka’s reputation as a first-rate defender and goalkeeper has somewhat undermined his game, as he has focused more on demarcation. But it’s still a concrete wall, where you have to think twice before trying to get over it.
8. Stephen Adams

Stephen Adams may look like Jason Momoah, but Momoah may have to work even harder. This guy looks like he’s from a Viking movie, and he’s not wrong, he’s as strong as he looks. He should have been like this when he was growing up.
Adams is the youngest of 23 brothers (most of them are athletes), so you know he had to fight for everything he had before in his life. He is a first class defender and a sharpshooter who must be very badly injured if you want to move him or miss a minute of play.
7. Chris Paul
(via the NY Daily News)
Chris Paul isn’t the biggest in the league, but he’s definitely one of the coolest. He has no friends when he’s on the field and he’s not afraid to get dirty, make physical efforts and walk an extra mile to win. He’s the main competitor and he doesn’t care about anything.
Paul’s mental toughness and protective instincts made him one of the world’s greatest jokers. It also helped him overcome the challenges and get Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs this season, despite the lack of a strong support team.
6. Montrell Harrell
(via Clips Nation)
Montrell Garrell is the coolest crook. What he lacks in size and scope, he makes up for in a fire that never seems to break out. He will never give up a free kick and will never hesitate to place his body on the line of any ball possession.
Harrell’s instincts and his time made him the dominant presence on both sides of the glass. It doesn’t slip around the bar, and if you rub it the wrong way, it will give your hands in no time, so be careful.
5. Giannis Antetokunmpo
Giannis Antetokunmpo has been through all this. He overcame poverty and had to share a pair of sneakers with all his brothers in order to get engaged. That’s why he never takes anything for granted and continues to work as hard as on his first day.
Jiannis improves every year in every aspect of her league game. He is the current MVP and the best candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year award. The way he transformed his body shows how much work and determination he put into the gym.

Draimond Green is as hard as nails. He is strong, physical and a man who will do anything to help his team win, even if he gets dirty every now and then. So he’s been a somewhat polarized competition character for about five years.
Besides, nobody beats Draimond Greene when it comes to talking trash. It will fall in your face, challenge you and make you so angry that you have no choice but to fight. In the meantime, he will have a lot of technical problems.
3. Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook always plays with the chip on his shoulder. He is determined to prove that he is better, faster, stronger and more athletic than anyone else in the league, and that is what makes him stand out night after night, regardless of the opposition.
Westbrook is a fierce competitor. He’ll never be overloaded and he’s proud of it. If you dare cross him, he’ll make you pay. It is noteworthy that it has often cost him a few games, because he tends to have a limited vision from time to time.
2. Markus Smart
(about the Bleacher Report)
Marcus Smart is one of the toughest people who ever lived. He fought with his older brothers every day of his life, making him an NBA player who would never give up a challenge. He wants to protect the opponent’s best player.
A smart player, perhaps the only one in the NBA who can effectively defend one to five players and play a final defense, no matter who he’s dealing with. He’s going to risk his body, move between the screens, get abrasions, bruises, whatever it takes to win.
1. Jimmy Butler
It was hard for Jimmy Butler to grow up. At one point in his life he was literally homeless, so he’s the kind of person who works the hardest because he knows that playing in the NBA is a blessing that only a handful of people can be proud of.
Butler’s an alpha dog. He will give 110% and accept nothing less from his colleagues. It made enemies during his NBA career, but he didn’t care. He wants to be a leader, but he wants to win. It doesn’t matter what it costs.
